Main duties of the job
As an OT you will be visiting peoples homes, listening to what matters to them and making sure they are at the centre of everything you do. Youll use the highest professional and clinical skills to assess for and arrange equipment and adaptations. Youll explore safe ways of moving and handling and be able to communicate and develop plans well. Youll work with social work colleagues, Housing and Health partners, and equipment providers.

Keeps up to date with technical advances in the provision of new items of equipment designed to assist disabled adults/older people/children and young people and with developments in medical and paramedical techniques

Assists in the training of Occupational Therapy students, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and other departmental personnel

Assesses for and arranges the provision of equipment for daily living to adults and children and young people; provide instructions and demonstration to the individuals concerned and their relatives on the use of the equipment and in the techniques of daily living

Assesses for and advises on the needs for structural adaptations at the homes of adults, children, and young people; makes recommendations concerning the works required to meet individual requirements and co-ordinates major adaptation cases under the supervision and guidance of the / Occupational Therapy Team Leader and with support from the Major Adaptations Team

Assesses the needs of adults/ children and young people (in conjunction with other departmental personnel), including the provision of any specific facilities and to advise and assist day centre staff in devising individual programme plans; those living in residential care homes, including offering advice on specific services, equipment and/or adaptations needed and giving basic information on available services, redirecting enquiries needing specialist advice as appropriate. For staff working with disabled children and young people: advising and assisting staff in devising individual programme plans in short break provision
