Senior Medical Examiner Officer:
Band 6


We are seeking a Senior Medical Examiner Officer who has completed and consolidated their Medical Examiner Officer Royal College of Pathologists Training and is now able to step into a leadership role, managing a small team of Medical Examiner Officers on two hospital sites at Lewisham Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich, the role is a cross-site role.


You will need to have good communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and be able to represent the Medical Examiner Service.

As the senior Medical Examiner Officer you will be responsible for the day to day office management, leading a small team of Medical Examiner Officers, working closely with the Lead Medical Examiner and Medical Examiners who work within the service.


With effect from April 2024, the Medical Examiner Service will be statutory requiring all deaths at the Trust and local community to be scrutinised before a death certificate to be issues or coroners referral made.


Key stakeholders you will liaise with are: Next of Kin, Trust Staff / Medical Staff, Registrars in our local boroughs and the Regional Medical Examiner and Regional Medical Examiner Officer for London.
