    Description

    Due to a recent promotion that seen the Head of Engineering promoted into the CTO role there's an opportunity to join the business as the Lead Data Engineer.

    Working hand in hand with the CTO you will play an instrumental part in shaping and leading the Data Engineering function within this growing business.

    Not only are the business a market leader in their field but they also are a market leader when it comes to career opportunities as you can see from the aforementioned internal promotion.

    They also promote a healthy work life balance and so the successful candidate will only be required to be onsite 2 days per week and there is free on site parking to be used on those days.

    This is a rare opportunity to work with a well liked and respected CTO and a great business.

    Lead Data Engineer £80k-£90k

    Hybrid working 2 days in Glasgow office a week

    Your New Role:

    • Platform Development: Build the foundations of the new data platform, leveraging extensive business data for both automation and analytics.
    • Pipeline Design: Create and develop data processing pipelines to support the ingestion, enrichment, and quality control of client and partner data.
    • Data Warehouse Design: Design and develop a data warehouse to facilitate reporting and analytics.
    • Team Development: Coach and mentor team members, enhancing their technical skills and knowledge of the platform.
    • Process Improvement: Identify and implement internal process improvements, automate manual processes, and optimize data delivery.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct workshops and discovery sessions to understand business requirements and provide status updates.
    • Help with the platform search functionality

    Your Skills:

    • Stakeholder Management: Proven experience working consultatively with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Data Engineering Expertise: Hands-on experience with modern data engineering technologies, techniques, and architectures to build and maintain robust data pipelines.
    • Technological Proficiency: Experience with technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Pentaho Data Integrator, Apache Hop, etc.
    • ETL/ELT Practices: Strong understanding of modern ETL/ELT practices, frameworks, tooling, and execution environments.
    • Data Delivery: Knowledge of data delivery approaches like batch, micro-batch, messaging, streaming, etc.
    • Software Engineering Skills: Proficiency in design, coding, testing, source control, deployment, CI/CD, documentation, etc.
    • Database Experience: Hands-on experience with various databases, such as SQL Server and MongoDB, ideally hosted in a cloud environment.
