Man Talk & Hub - Youth Worker


REPORTS TO:
Personal Development Manager


HOURS:
14 hours per week (2-3 Evenings)


SALARY:
£13 to £15 per hour (Depending on Experience)


Purpose of role:


As a vital member of our frontline delivery team, we are seeking an enthusiastic individual passionate and dedicated to youth work.

Your role will be pivotal in upholding Fight for Peace's core values, ensuring that every young person who enters our premises feels not just welcomed but truly valued.

By engaging with them in a manner that fosters safety, acceptance, empowerment, and active listening, you will contribute significantly to their personal growth and development.


One of your key responsibilities will involve assisting in the facilitation of Fight for Peace's weekly Man Talk sessions, providing a platform for young men to address topics pertinent to their lives and experiences.

Your involvement in these discussions will play a crucial role in nurturing a supportive community environment where participants feel understood and supported.


Furthermore, you will be instrumental in building strong rapport with all young people who engage with Fight for Peace, ensuring that they feel a sense of belonging and empowerment.

Through your efforts, you will help cultivate a safe and inclusive space within our 'HUB' area, where every individual has the opportunity to explore their potential and thrive.


In essence, this role is about more than just youth work—it's about making a profound difference in the lives of young people, empowering them to navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience.

Skills

  • Ability to work in a manner that reflects the values and ethos of FFP at all times.
  • Ability to develop and maintain meaningful and trusting relationships with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to a wider range of audiences as well as to be a good listener.
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritise in a busy and demanding work enviroment.
  • Happy to try new things and different ideas in the quest to improve performance.
  • Proactive and solutionfocused in all aspects of work. Resilient in the face of challenges.
  • The ability to work flexibly and under their own initiative

Knowledge/experience

  • Experience working with young people in Youth Work context
  • Foundational understanding of Youth Work
  • Knowledge of the challenges and experiences that young people face
  • A good understanding and working knowledge of issues surrounding youth involvement in offending, violent behaviour and gangs, working knowledge of multicultural inner city areas and an ability to relate to young people of all backgrounds.
  • Experience in carrying out and adhering to risk assessments and managing risk within a youthbased setting.
  • An understanding of boxing and/or martial arts is not essential to the role but a willingness to learn and develop skills related to boxing and combat sports is.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Job Types:
Part-time, Zero hours contract


Pay:
£13.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14 per week
