WHAT TO EXPECT
The role will be primarily based in HUCKNALL however applicants should be prepared to work anywhere in the region.


We will provide:

  • Full training
  • A laptop and mobile phone
  • Line management support and guidance
  • Starting salary £21,091 rising to £23,805 at the end of Year 2 in role
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • 26 days leave per annum plus bank holidays plus an extra day for your birthday
  • Wellbeing support/access to counselling
  • Funding for this post is currently secured until July 24 with the possibility of extended funding beyond that point

PROFILE


You will be providing a range of support services for children and young people and based on site in a school in Nottinghamshire.

You will be trained to deliver all of these services in line with our 'restorative' ethos and approach.


What you will be providing and doing:

  • Mentoring for students: Providing practical and emotional support for children and young people to address their identified needs and better enable their engagement.
  • Support to improve the relationships between these students, the schools and their family.
  • Delivery of interactive training sessions (on a small group, full classroom and assembly group basis) designed to address issues such as Knife Crime, Child Criminal Exploitation, Domestic abuse and Misogyny.
  • Building positive relationships and creating bespoke 'plans' to assist children and young people with their identified needs.
  • Assisting the school to 'bridge the gap' between home and school by communicating with parents/carers
  • Creating projects and work programmes that benefit the school community to motivate, engage and challenge small groups of students, to support them with an aim to the returning to their classroom.
You will be working 35 hours a week, based in site in school. There will be an expectation that your leave is taken during school holidays.

Outside of term time you will:

where agreed provide ongoing support to identified students, develop resources for the next term and assist the wider Remedi team with other youth work.

Driving/access to a car is preferable.

passion, empathy and motivation rather than any particular past experience or qualification.

The skills and qualities you will need to do the job well are:


COMMUNICATION:


  • Good communication skills with children and their families is a must, as is the ability to communicate in a clear, timely fashion (verbally and in writing) with partner agencies such as school, social care and youth justice professionals. Forming and maintaining relationships with these partner agencies is vital to the success of the work we do.

FLEXIBILITY- While primarily school hours, there may be a requirement for you to attend meetings, visit families outside of school hours.


MOTIVATION- _This _role is very rewarding and can make a significant difference to someone's life. Many of the children/young people we support face a number of challenges and can find it difficult to engage. You will need to provide encouragement and support and use innovative strategies in order to meet their needs and to motivate them to engage.


IT CAPABLE- We want you to spend the majority of your time working with people. There is however a responsibility to record information accurately and promptly on our secure case recording system.

As a result, it is essential that you are proficient in using:


The school will provide access to school systems, and will require you to update their systems in a timely and accurate manner.


SAFETY- We want you to work safely in all aspects of the role
- health and safety, safeguarding for all concerned, data protection, risk assessment etc. Full training will be provided in all of these aspects, and we will be looking for someone committed to achieving high standards in regard to all of these issues.
