    Default job background
    Description

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicate individual to come and join our dnata Catering & Retail UK team as a HR Advisor at our London Heathrow unit – to provide a first-class service to our business.

So, who are we? In a nutshell, dnata is one of the world's largest air and travel services providers, offering ground handling, cargo, travel, and catering & retail services at over 130 airports in more than 30 countries across six continents. At dnata, we are by your side for the entire travel experience. dnata Catering and Retail is one of the world's leading in-flight hospitality providers, delivering world-class culinary services and innovative products that enhance our passengers' experience.

Some parts of our Catering and Retail business can be cyclical in nature, and this can be anything from bidding for new business and re-bidding for existing business, so we'd quite like you to have TUPE and change management experience please as well as an appreciation for seasonal recruitment and how much this matters to our organisation.

Needless to say, operating as an HR Advisor the main remit of your role will be to support, advise and coach our managers in the effective management of their own people and teams. This could look like supporting with the standard ER related processes such as a disciplinaries, grievances, absence and capability but more importantly, to focus on how we can guide our managers on taking informal, personalised and pro-active approaches to their people.

Here at dnata we're changing the way in which HR work, we're building out an HR Shared Service, we're expanding our Talent team and we've had an amazing investment in HR Tech – Workday If you want to play a part in helping us to grow and develop into a people function that is viewed as adding value – versus as firefighters, administrators and "personnel" then read on.

    We'll expect you to:

    • Act as first point of contact for ER activity, escalating matters to the HR Business Partner as appropriate.
    • Provide advice and guidance to teams on our process and policy.
    • Providing ongoing coaching and development for line managers (either on a 1:1 basis or through delivering group training sessions) on key management practices, including performance and capability issues, conflict and dispute situations, and absence management.
    • Ensure compliance and adherence to legislative, HR and company standards, agreed policies and processes.
    • Work on the dnata people plan with HR projects aligned to our business objectives.
    • Support the HR Business Partners and managers and lead business change projects.
    • Ensure all information required is presented accurately, clearly and within agreed deadlines – we love attention to detail.
    • Develop customer relationships, establishing key contacts and offering an advisory approach to ensure issues and concerns are dealt with effectively – we are value add and we aren't the HR police

    Do you have the following?

    • A positive, can-do approach and capable of working as part of a team with the ability to quickly build and maintain professional relationships.
    • Relationship building - we quite like our Trade Unions (well most of the time) so experience of them and their dark art isn't essential but wanting to get to know them and work in partnership is.
    • A passion for the profession and for making a real difference.
    • Demonstrable up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation
    • Strong IT skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment – we go faster than fast.
    • An ability to solve problems and make suggestions – we love new and different ways of working with a right first-time attitude.

Sound good so far? Let's make it even better...

    • You will report directly into our HR Business Partner for the site who in turn reports into our fantastic Head of HR Ops– Shara Beaton (feel free to have a nosey on LinkedIn)
    • You'll get opportunities to grow and develop within a team who learn from each other every day but more importantly, who support each other through the ups and downs.
    • You will have the chance to get involved in the non-conventional to expand your own experiences and knowledge – projects linked to wellbeing, enrichment, people-focused policies and processes and much more, overarched by our aim to look after our front-line teams and become an employer of choice.
    • Your voice will be heard. We are always open to new ideas and a fresh perspective on doing things differently.

Finally – just a bit of the small print, your base location will be Heathrow and whilst this is predominately site based, we might need you to travel on occasion if your colleagues need a helping hand. This is a very autonomous and flexible role so the individual will have sole responsibility and accountability for how they manage their time. As long as we continue to provide a first-class service to the business – that is all that matters – how you deliver that is down to you.

We're not saying it's not going to be a challenge, but if you think you can tick all the boxes and you're up for it, then why not apply today.

Please note that dnata are an inclusive employer and are very open to discuss any reasonable adjustments that may be required as part of the selection process for this role.
