About The Role
Required from September 2024, Gillingham School in Dorset are looking for a dynamic, well qualified, teacher of Computer Science to teach across the age and ability range (KS3+4 with the possibility of KS5). Computer Science is taught by an enthusiastic and effective team who embrace new challenges to build upon the department's popularity with pupils. We are proud of the diverse curriculum that caters for the wide interests of our ambitious students. Our departmental curriculum includes courses in both GCSE Computer Science and a Technical Award in Interactive Media at KS4, along with A Level Computer Science and a Level 3 BTEC in Information Technology in the Sixth Form. It is a highly successful department in a vibrant and supportive school.
The post is suited to both experienced teachers and early career teachers. An excellent induction programme exists for new colleagues and opportunity for further career development is a real priority for our school. All colleagues who join our school are entitled to rich professional learning and ongoing professional development.

Keeping Children Safe in Education
The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
