Purpose of the Role

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake the allocation of properties, in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
  • Monitor progress of void properties and liaise with the Maintenance and Works Division to facilitate new tenancy arrangements at the earliest opportunity.
  • Deal with daytoday allocations, Housing Register and Housing Transfer enquiries from applicants and tenants and conduct interviews and home visits as required.
  • Carry out administrative procedures relating to the lettings process and produce statistical information on homelessness, allocations, voids etc.
  • Assist the other housing officers, as required, with the investigation of claims of homelessness, giving appropriate advice, undertaking associated case work, and issuing written notification of decisions.
  • Receive enquiries outside office hours and advise on the most appropriate course of action, as part of the overall housing management function.
  • Assist other housing officers as required, with the allocation and management of temporary accommodation.
  • Responsible for protecting and managing information securely, and reporting breaches or suspected information security breaches, in line with Council policies.

Requirements:


  • Part/Full Institute of Housing professional qualifications.
  • Experience of casework and interviewing skills.
  • Experience of producing statistical reports, charts, and graphs.
  • 6 months experience in Housing Allocations.
  • Experience of use of computers.
  • Able to undertake visits/inspections as required. Therefore, mobility through the Borough is required.
