    Join us as a Senior Risk & Controls Associate

    • We'll look to you to support, develop and embed the risk and control mechanisms for the business, independently overseeing and challenging the effective management of risks and controls
    • Supporting the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of our risk framework and processes, you'll work with stakeholders to drive compliance with key regulatory and policy requirements, and provide risk and control advice
    • Broaden your regulatory knowledge and understanding and develop in a strategic, proactive role which supports the management of the bank's risk profile

    What you'll do

    As a Senior Risk & Controls Associate, you'll be acting as a subject matter expert and helping to develop and manage our compliance and conduct policies so that we can make sure they are fit for purpose and meet the relevant regulatory expectations.

    Day-to-day, you'll be:

    • Partnering with the business stakeholders to design and implement innovative solutions which meet the needs of the business while making sure we remain within stated risk appetite
    • Providing guidance and support in relation to risk and control management, ensuring regulatory obligations and internal governance requirements are met
    • Supporting the identification and continuous assessment of material risks, and assessing their position relative to agreed appetites
    • Driving the evolution of risk and control processes, key risk indicators and oversight of your stakeholders risks
    • Managing regulatory risk, including the identification, interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements driving the delivery of change or remediation activities
    • Partnering with a product or functional team to support development of products, features, services which are compliant and controlled by design
    • Acting as an interface with wider NatWest stakeholders including senior risk colleagues (FLOD and SLOD) in the design and implementation of risk-driven priorities, policies, and processes

    The skills you'll need

    To succeed in this role, you'll need experience in a compliance, conduct or risk management role or similar relevant experience. You'll have knowledge of the regulatory environment and its frameworks, and ideally experience of interpreting regulatory rules and regulations. Particular experience or knowledge of UK Payments such as Faster Payments, BACS, New Payments Architecture and Open Banking, used in the development of banking products and operations would be great, together with experience working in a fast paced, agile environment.

    You'll also demonstrate:

    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and legislation, such as FCA and PRA, and the ability to apply requirements through practical advice to the business
    • The ability to convey complex information and ideas clearly to stakeholders and embed product policy, processes and controls that balance regulatory compliance and commerciality
    • The ability to influence and challenge senior risk stakeholders in the interpretation and implementation of internal policy and regulatory requirements, flexing between corporate thinking and a start up innovative mindset
    • Experience of working with product and functional business teams to deliver new capabilities
    • Proven strong ability to problem solve with product and functional teams to deliver innovative compliant solutions
