    Job Advert - Division Information

Burton Park is a neurobehavioural locked rehabilitation hopsital for patients with acquired brain injury, many of whom will display co-existing neuropsychiatric or other conditions and present some degree of Clinically Related Behaviour that communicates distress.

There are three wards offering 50 beds. Warwick Lodge, Dalby Unit and Cleves Lodge. A variety of care pathways are available, including acute and longer-term neurobehavioural rehabilitation and person-centred care, emphasising the least restrictive setting. A 4 bed High-Dependency Unit is being developed on Cleves Lodge to cater for service-users requiring more intensive nursing support. Warwick Lodge caters for service users with higher levels of physical needs. Dalby Lodge is a therapy-led pre-discharge ward preparing service-users for a return to community living, and admits service-users who have progressed through the pathway on-site as well as taking direct referrals.

The multi-disciplinary team includes Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social workers and Psychiatrists.

    Job Advert Location Description

We are looking to recruit a number of motivated and conscientious individuals with an interest in Mental Health to join our Hospital Manager team. Hospital Managers (HMs) are a panel appointed specially to look at whether people should be discharged from the Mental Health Act. HMs are accountable to the Hospital. You are required to provide your own indemnity insurance for this role.

In this important role you will participate as a panel member, ensuring that patients' rights are fully explored and upheld. This will require the consideration of reports from the clinicial team involved in the patient's care and the views of the patient, before determining whether the criteria for detention are met.

The Hospital recognises and values the rich diversity of both its workforce and the population it serves. As part of our journey and commitment to ensuring we are meeting the needs of the people we serve, it is crucial that our group of HMs are representative of the community. Therefore, we encourage applicants from all groups across our communities.

HMs are remunerated on a sessional basis and full training will be provided for the role. Appointment will initially be for one year, and this may be renewed on a three yearly basis pending successful completion of appraisals and review by the lead Non-Executive Director. HMs will attend at least one HM forum meeting during a 12 month period.

Due to Covid restrictions, HM hearings and forum meetings are currently being carried out virtually via video conference. Therefore, sufficient IT skills to attend via Microsoft Teams is essential. As restrictions lift we intend to follow the lead of Her Majesty's Tribunal Services; continuing with remote hearings and having face to face hearings when clinically required or requested. Travel expense fees will be paid if this is the case.
