Target Discovery Imaging Scientist - Stevenage, United Kingdom - Taleo BE

    Default job background
    Description

385176 Target Discovery Imaging Scientist (Senior Scientist/Investigator)

Our Target Discovery department at GSK is comprised of several disciplines that provide the deep scientific knowledge and technical capabilities required to discover and validate potential novel therapeutic targets through the application of extensive genetic analyses, high throughput genome editing and endophenotyping in well-characterized human cellular and in vivo models.

Drawing on genotypic and phenotypic databases from our world-leading partnerships with the UK BioBank and by interrogating the genome through internal and collaborative efforts with the Altius Institute, Open Targets, and the Laboratory of Genomics Research (LGR) with CRISPR pioneers Jennifer Doudna and Jonathan Weissman at the University of California, we aim to redefine how the industry approaches drug discovery to deliver transformative medicines for our patients.

An exciting opportunity is available within Target Discovery for a motivated senior scientist or scientific investigator to apply expertise in high content imaging and other phenotypic endpoints to functional and chemo- genomic screens to identify new, high-quality, de-risked drug targets. The successful candidate will work as a part of the global Imaging Team within the Imaging & Automation group in Genome Biology as well as with colleagues from other Research Technologies groups (including Human Genetics & Genomics, Large Molecule Discovery, Molecular Modalities Discovery, Pre-Clinical Sciences, and Data and Predictive Sciences), AI/ML, Research Statistics, and the Therapeutic Areas to design, execute, and analyze imaging endpoints in target discovery and validation screens. Additionally, the successful candidate will contribute to new capability developments that allow the team to stay on the cutting edge of high content drug discovery.

We create a place where people can grow, be their best, be safe, and feel welcome, valued and included. We offer a competitive salary, an annual bonus based on company performance, healthcare and wellbeing programmes, pension plan membership, and shares and savings programme.

We embrace modern work practises; our Performance with Choice programme offers a hybrid working model, empowering you to find the optimal balance between remote and in-office work.
