    Description
    We have an exciting new role for a passionate Licensed Animal Technician who is looking to progress their career. You will provide animal husbandry, care, and welfare within their department of biomedical services.

    The ideal candidate will need to support the team, communicate well with researchers and be keen to develop their own skills.

    This role is for someone who cares for animals but is also research-inclined.

    Basic Requirements:

    • IAT Level 2 or equivalent education is essential
    • Personal Licence A and B is essential, C is desirable
    • Knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
    • Previous experience in performing regulated procedures
    • Ability to work independently and address operational issues
    • Organising your own workload and taking initiative
    • Assisting in training new technicians and helping with their day to day work
    • Flexible approach to rota

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for regulated and non-regulated procedures under ASPA
    • Provide care and husbandry of research animals
    • Follow instructions and guidance of the relevant researcher
    • Provide technical assistance with experimental protocols and surgical procedures
    • Feeding, watering, as well as preparation of specialist feeding regimes
    • Monitor the health status of all animals through observation and regular health checks
    • Assisting with maintenance of equipment, including fault finding and troubleshooting
    • Maintaining detailed and accurate records of all animals, stock levels and procedures
    • Following SOP's and health and Safety procedures
