At Taunton Deane Partnership College, Safeguarding, Online Safety and Data Protection is everybody's responsibility

Taunton Deane Partnership College (TDPC) is one of four Pupil Referral Units commissioned by Somerset Council and Somerset schools, covering Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe. We work alongside children (5-16 years) in several ways: those who have an EHCP naming us as their school; children with medical needs that inhibits their access to mainstream settings; those who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and in partnership with schools through our Centres and in Outreach.

We are looking for an outstanding SEMH teacher to work within our school. This post will largely be based in our primary setting. The children in this setting have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and/or have an EHCP. All children have SEMH needs and, as such, require a relational approach to learning. In our primary setting, children can follow different curriculum pathways that aim to meet their needs. This includes a classroom-based approach for children who are settled to learn and a play based curriculum for children who require something different. The successful candidate will be passionate about engaging children and will be exceptional at planning exciting lessons and schemes to maximise children's progress. We are looking for someone who believes in the power of education to transform the chances of children. You will be flexible in approach and adaptable to changing need.

When Centre numbers allow, this role will extend to the successful candidate working in partnership with our mainstream schools to support inclusion of SEMH students, under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher.

For us, this role is about the person and their ability to relate to our children therefore we welcome applications from colleagues across key stages, in mainstream schools, special schools and alternative provisions.

We will request to meet and observe shortlisted candidates in their current settings prior to interview.

We would encourage you to visit us. Please email to arrange to meet our Headteacher, Kim Lawrence.

TDPC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a high awareness of these areas and undergo an enhanced DBS check. We also conduct online checks of all applicants during the shortlisting process.
