    Unit Description

    The Group Legal & Compliance unit consists of 31 members based in Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Poland, Singapore and the United States. The responsibilities of this team include advising Atradius on a wide range of legal and compliance (including data protection) related topics both on a group (international) level and on a local level.

    Group Legal & Compliance aims to improve the long-term performance of the Atradius Group by partnering with the other units of Atradius and using a risk-based approach to placing all activities in the right legal and compliance framework and rendering advice on legal and compliance matters.

    In order to further fortify the existing legal function we are seeking to recruit a Legal Counsel for the Group Legal & Compliance unit in Cardiff.

    The Legal Counsel's responsibilities would cover a wide range of tasks. The Legal Counsel is expected to successfully contribute to the Group Legal & Compliance unit in respect of English law matters. The Legal Counsel may advise on contract law, insurance law, as well as certain insurance regulatory aspects. The Legal Counsel would also deal with external legal advisers and may from time to time assist the business in litigation cases. This function will be based in our Cardiff office.

    Job Requirements: Knowledge, Education and Experience

    • Qualified to practice as a lawyer in the UK
    • 3 to 5 years work experience as a lawyer or in-house legal counsel
    • Relevant working experience and knowledge of insurance law is desirable, but not essential
    • Excellent verbal reasoning, communication skills, written and negotiation skills
    • Professional attitude, accurate and focused on delivering quality
    • Strong team player but also able to work independently and take initiative
    • Structured and eager to learn
    • Strong analytical skills
    • International mindset
