    About The Job

    What you'll spend your time doing:

    Inter-Business Relationships

  • Lead a team of Reinsurance Technicians, overseeing all aspects of team performance and development, supporting professional growth of team members
  • Drive and actively participate in the Outwards Reinsurance function to support its growth, collaborating closely with other leaders
  • Collaborate with the Buying team and provide inputs required for activities undertaken collectively
  • Manage and maintain robust relationships across MS Amlin, representing Reinsurance Operations on internal working groups or committees as needed
  • Collaborate closely with Claims team, representatives of the underwriting teams, Finance, Actuarial and Treasury teams to ensure smooth operation of business and effective communication is in place through all areas of the business
  • Establish and oversee technicians' relationships with key third parties including Brokers, Lawyers, Clients, Xchanging Claims Service, Co-insurers, external accountants.
  • Stay informed about customer requirements, looking to constantly develop management information, streamline processes, and ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting
  • Outwards Reinsurance operations

  • Lead and manage all aspects of outwards reinsurance operations, including intercompany processes, premium calculations, loss reporting; claim allocation, and account statement generation
  • Oversee portfolio adjustment of reinsurance accounts in accordance with agreed authority limits and in line with MS Amlin reinsurance procedures
  • Provide guidance on complex dispute resolution and elevate intricate issues to the relevant management level for resolution
  • Oversee the coordination of communications related to proposal amounts, and agreeing and receiving settlements due
  • Lead on reporting and credit control and oversee the identification and request of outstanding recoveries
  • Manage Reinsurance Technicians in addressing queries and writing-off bad debt, and settling outstanding recoveries
  • Support with additional activities including ad-hoc project support and netting down as required
  • Manage the overall relationship between third parties and the business on the key activities across ORI
  • Compliance and Risk Management

  • Conduct role in accordance with the Company's Business Ethics policy and all regulated entities as appropriate.
  • Assist in the identification of all potential risks (credit, market, operations) related to reinsurance activities and support risk management frameworks
  • Management Reporting And Account Management

  • Lead on the production of management reports, including: Compiling management information Producing quarterly and monthly management information packs
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly/ quarterly figures for group accounting purposes.
  • Management Information

  • Play an active role in regular Outward Reinsurance meetings
  • Ensure the risk entry system is maintained.
  • Produce appropriate and accurate reports, as necessary.
  • Remain alert to developments affecting the business of the class, the potential profitability of the class and opportunities for the class, and to report on such matters, as appropriate, to leadership.

  • Have excellent knowledge of technical outwards reinsurance operations including reinsurance systems, procedures, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Proven experience in a managerial or team leadership role, with the ability to mentor and guide team members effectively
  • Strong understanding of Lloyd's regulatory reporting requirements and reinsurance best practice
  • Strong understanding of outwards reinsurance systems and procedures
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
