Job Summary

Looking for your first role in health and safety?


This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established health & safety team supporting 3 local Councils (East Lindsey District Council, Boston Borough Council and South Holland District Council) and
PSPS (Public Sector Partnership Services).

You don't need to have worked in health and safety, but a keen interest in becoming a health and safety professional


Work in this role covers a variety of client environments from offices to refuse depots, vehicle maintenance units, crematoriums, leisure centres, museums and parks and a variety of other locations.

The health and safety team will audit, inspect and advise staff in maintaining a safe working environment for all who work in or visit the various Client departments and locations.

This may include day-to-day activities, events or incidents requiring assistance from the health & safety department.

You will be supported through a vocational learning programme, with mentoring from experienced Health and Safety professionals. You will also be given the opportunity to obtain formal health and safety qualifications.


Key duties:


  • To prepare and present current management reports, assist in the planning of briefings and presentations to a variety of audiences, as necessary
  • To develop and maintain an appropriate communication system that ensures safety messages are conveyed and understood
  • To assist the Health and Safety Manager in the continued development of the Health and Safety strategy, including assisting with the production, monitoring and auditing of a robust health and safety management framework, ensuring compliance in all service areas
  • As part of the above, to ensure adequate risk assessments are carried by service areas out across the organisation, and that appropriate mitigation actions are planned for and implemented.
  • To innovate, develop and implement new safety initiatives for services designed to meet future needs

What we need from you:


  • An interest in a career in Health and Safety
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office Word, excel and ability to learn new systems
  • Good verbal and written communication with high standard of English
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritise workload
  • Full driving licence and own or use of vehicle insured for use at work.
