    Locum Consultant Learning Disability Psychiatrist

    If you are looking for a Locum consultant psychiatrist role in Greater Manchester working with intellectually disabled adults, we would love to hear from you.

    You will be joining Pennine care LD team which was recently shortlisted for "Rcpsych Intellectual disability Team of Year" award and "Nursing times" award.

    This is a part time community job based in the Bury Integrated LD team, and you will work with a well-resourced multi-disciplinary team.

    You will have a dedicated office and IT access as well as facilities for remote working. There is exciting opportunity to undertake research and academic work with MMU university.

    The post holder will provide psychiatric input to adults with learning disabilities of 18 years and older living within the Bury area.

    The post holder will be a key member of the learning disability team based at Windsor house Bury The post holder is expected to carry out assessments of complex cases and support development of multi-disciplinary management plans.

    You will work closely with the Local Authority and other partner agencies and contribute to the management of the team.

    The post holder will provide psychiatric input to adults with learning disabilities of 18 years and older within the Oldham area.

    The post holder will be a key member of the team based at Civic Centre in Oldham and will have access to clinical space at the Cherrywood clinic.

    It is also expected that psychiatric assessment, advice and liaison will be given in a variety of community locations.

    With regards to inpatient cover, there are inpatient consultants who cover inpatient mental health wards and if learning disability clients are admitted due to acute mental health detoriation then the RC responsibilities will be taken over by inpatient consultant.

    The postholder will share will have provide cross cover for other LD consultants the responsibility for managing adult patients with learning disability within community

    The consultant will be expected to work in close liaison with the wider community health teams, social services teams, provider services, and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

    Ensure appropriate implementation of duties under the Mental Health Act.
    Ensure multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.

    The department operates along a clinical directorate structure, with great emphasis on clinical governance and involving key senior clinicians in management decisions.

    oPossession of CCT in Psychiatry or be within 6 months of achieving this or entered onto the GMC Specialist Register in this discipline
    oCCT in Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability

    This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
