    Medical Engineering Technician (IT)

    Location: Wiltshire, Chippenham, Bristol, Swindon, Cirencester

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and seasoned Medical Engineering Technician to join our client's Engineering team. In this role, you will primarily operate within a workshop environment, conducting inspections, data removal, calibrations, and safety tests on a diverse array of medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment. A key component of this role is removing patient identifiable data, so you must be confident in this skill. This is a non-customer facing position, ideal for individuals ready to get stuck in and support impactful patient outcomes.

    The role:

    • Utilise computer-controlled medical equipment to identify and securely erase Patient Identifiable Data (PID) to prescribed standards such as ISO 15408 and Infosec Standard 5.
    • Skilfully fit replacement storage devices in medical equipment and proficiently (re)install associated software, including performing backup, recovery, and database rebuilding within specialised medical software applications.
    • Conduct fault finding activities, employing suitable techniques and judgement to diagnose issues, determine fault causes, and propose effective solutions for hardware/software faults, system/network issues, and more.
    • Perform calibration, electrical, and functional safety testing on a broad spectrum of medical equipment, subsequently delivering analytical condition reports.
    • Maintain meticulous records of equipment defects, work conducted, components utilised, and test outcomes in the designated engineering database.
    • Collaborate with third-party entities to procure spare parts for repairs and upgrades, and liaise with Manufacturers for guidance on PID removal as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    • ONC/HNC level education in relevant field.
    • Demonstrable experience in maintaining and repairing microprocessor-based electronic medical equipment, inclusive of comprehension of various operating systems, embedded storage media, and medical equipment connectivity.
    • Proven track record in testing and calibrating a wide array of medical equipment devices.
    • Familiarity with maintenance protocols, adherence to manufacturer specifications for quality and performance, and proficiency in implementing hardware/software upgrades.
    • Ideally possess experience in managing the removal of Patient Identifiable Data in accordance with ISO 15408 and Infosec Standard 5.
    • Strong IT acumen.
