    Job summary

    Based within the busy Eye Clinic at Royal Stoke Hospital, the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) supports both new and pre-existing patients with visual impairments of varying degrees either face to face or via the telephone. Frequently discussing reading aids and methods, kitchen safety, audio technology to getting out and about and emotional support, the ECLO has an important part in the pathway to independence. Working closely with both medical and non-medical staff within the department as well as external agencies including local charities and local authorities, the ECLO can refer onto support services as required.     This post is a Job Share, working 9am to 5pm Thursday and Friday and alternate Wednesdays.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Diploma / Degree or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Proficient in the use of Computers including Microsoft office: Word, Excel, access and Power-point
  • Portfolio of certified/accredited professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas
