Information Specialist - Cataloguing

3-month Fixed Term Contract

£25,000

35 hours per week

About the company
Our client is a Not-for-Profit organisation, who are looking to recruit an Information Specialist - Cataloguer to

undertake literature searches and have responsibility for cataloguing documents and resources.

In addition, Information Specialists have duties associated with their designated team, but may be asked to provide cover for work undertaken by another team to ensure that service standards are met, and quality of service is maintained.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • To support the maintenance and development of the library collections and online catalogue including selection, cataloguing, classifying and writing abstracts for print and online resources
  • Adding books, online reports and journal articles to the catalogue
  • Adding keywords to the catalogue to enable search functionality
  • To work with the Senior Information Specialists to develop and deliver Library and Information Services to staff, external professionals and the voluntary sector
  • To contribute to a specialist information service, responding to enquiries and conducting literature searches using the library catalogue, companies Learning website and external library/information databases
  • To contribute to the delivery of information resources in a variety of formats, such as current awareness newsletters, intranet pages and Learning web content

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in information management or similar, and/or experience of working in a library or information service at a professional postqualification level
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience of summarising and presenting complex information clearly, accurately and concisely for online publication for a range of audiences
  • Proven ability to deliver and contribute to the development of highquality userfocused information services
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills: ability to build good working relationships, be flexible and to be sensitive to diversity issues

Up to £25,000.00 per year
