What We Are Building

Mimica's mission is to accelerate the discovery and deployment of automation with AI. Our first product, Mapper, learns patterns from employee clicks and keystrokes, identifies key steps, decisions and exceptions in user data and generates "blueprints" for automation. Today, it supports RPA teams, that build software bots for repetitive computer tasks such as data entry, form completion and claim processing. Alongside creating process maps for automation, we have launched a companion tool, Miner, which helps enterprises identify and prioritize automation opportunities.

Your mission

In this role, you'll own the roadmap of the Mimica web app, fostering innovation and aligning business/product goals with engineering constraints. Actively engaged in technical tasks—from architectural contributions to code reviews, debugging and shipping major features or improvements—you'll also direct your team's direction and cultivate an environment that prioritizes growth, efficiency and technical excellence.

Part of your day-to-day

• Leading OKR discussions, coordinating projects and facilitating meetings, planning and retrospectives for a small team of engineers
• Independently solving complex technical challenges, particularly in developing a real-time backend service for concurrent user interactions and AI model retraining
• Identifying and resolving bottlenecks and efficiency blockers, enabling the team to iterate faster
• Championing initiatives to improve the quality, security and performance of our systems and processes, while upholding high standards in our codebase.
• Promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous learning, mentoring team members in their development
• Supporting team growth by recruiting and onboarding talent that matches our values and technical excellence
  
  

Requirements

• Experience in leading the execution and delivery of complex/large engineering projects and pushing forward cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, and a willingness to utilize various modern frameworks and technologies (e.g., Docker, K8s) to build high-performance production software and scalable architectures
• Practical experience in designing APIs and managing databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB), with a keen eye for query optimization and efficient data storage & handling
• Commitment to upholding high engineering standards, prioritizing code quality, maintainability, reliability, and security
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills - methodically decomposing systems to identify bottlenecks, determine root causes and implement effective solutions
• Drive to continually develop your skills, improve team processes and reduce debt
• Fluency in English, with effective communication skills - articulating complex ideas, concepts, and trade-offs clearly and getting buy-in for strategic technical decisions

• Firm grasp of distributed systems concepts and techniques - microservices, load balancing, caching, horizontal/vertical scaling and stateless architectures
• Working knowledge of secure software design principles and familiarity with secure communication protocols and data protection mechanisms
• Experience working within a high-impact, high-ambiguity startup environment - delivering value quickly and iteratively

This is a fully remote position. You can be based anywhere in the UK, Americas, or Western Europe within a UTC-6 to UTC+1 timezone.
