SCW is flexible in terms of your working base within our South of England office network, including homeworking options as part of working patterns.

As part of your role you will be expected, from time to time, to travel to a range of SCW and customer sites.


The post holder will take a leading role in the team's provision of an efficient, effective and high quality professional and well-co-ordinated procurement service, capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements and ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.


The Associate Director of Procurement is a leadership post within SCW, with responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the services and supporting the Deputy Director of Procurement to shape and manage their current and future direction.

The post holder will manage a portfolio of services to both SCW and its customers ensuring that all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements are met.


The post holder will lead a team of approximately 15 procurement professionals to ensure that procurements and programmes are planned and carried out effectively, and that accounts are well managed.

The team is responsible for all Integrated Care Board procurement project activity within SCW's geography, as well as some consultancy provision to other customer such as NHS England and provider Trusts.


The post holder will lead the provision of an efficient, effective and high quality professional and well-co-ordinated procurement service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.

The post holder will also have in-depth knowledge and experience of all types of procurement and commercial activity within the NHS, including light-touch procurement.


Our award-winning Procurement team of c.70 people provides procurement expertise to NHS organisations across the South of England, predominantly NHS England and Integrated Care Boards.

Our project portfolio is interesting and diverse, ranging from primary care services or prison healthcare through to immunisations programmes, patient transport services, digital solutions for health and a whole range of other fields, such as consultancy and professional services.


Due to wide-ranging expansion of our work portfolio and customer base, we have recently recruited to a number of procurement roles in our extremely supportive, proactive and professional team.

This role is suitable for an experienced individual who would like to take a senior leadership role in an established, proactive and professional team


The post holder will:

  • Provide leadership, vision and alignment of the Consultancy team and be responsible for the delivery of annual work programmes.
  • Lead business development for the service and own predominantly ICB account management responsibilities. Align activity with SCW's wider account management and support multidisciplinary service promotion.
  • Be a credible, visible and authoritative adviser on procurement and market management issues to senior executives in customer organisations, and to SCW internally
  • Support the development and delivery of commercial procurement strategies requiring supplier innovation, senior stakeholder engagement, and/or market building/shaping on behalf of external and internal customers
  • Play an active role in SCW's Senior Leadership Team, in particular contributing to the wider commercial development of SCW
  • Operate effectively in a flexible and demanding environment whilst having regular contact with internal and external stakeholders. This will often include the need to engage with them over sensitive, complex, contentious legal and confidential issues.
  • Support the development and management for the budget and ongoing monitoring of expenditure, ensuring the appropriate documentation is available for scrutiny. Furthermore, constantly strive for value for money and greater efficiency in the use of these budgets, taking into consideration that they operate in recurrent financial balance year on year.
