    Position Purpose:

    The Control Engineer is responsible for developing and engineering controls solutions for projects, ensuring that TAIT's solutions are engineered to the highest levels of quality and safety.

    The Control Engineering team is responsible for control systems on multiple projects spanning all project phases. A Control Engineer's involvement in a project will begin with design, and continue with engineering activities throughout manufacturing, shop and site commissioning, and client handover.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Identify architecture and key controls technologies to meet project needs.
    • Understanding of entire automated systems, and how the various disciplines interact (mechanical, controls, artistic, etc).
    • Write technical documentation both to fulfil project requirements and for internal purposes.
    • Performs safety analysis to satisfy both internal standards and external client requirements.
    • Develops custom PLC projects, HMIs, and software configurations when required for projects.
    • Research new products and solutions, and when necessary, builds and tests prototypes.
    • Contributes to design reviews with productive feedback for peers.
    • Ensures smooth handover to fabrication and integration teams.
    • Client-facing. Balances external client requests against internal standard methods and comes to a satisfactory and professional resolution.
    • Commissions and formally tests installed systems to ensure correct performance and satisfy client requirements.
    • Works safely in variable environments, including client facilities and construction sites.
    • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

    Competencies:

    • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure that systems meet performance and safety requirements, and function according to best practice.
    • Detail-orientated, even while working under pressure.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or Technical Theatre
    • 1+ years of experience in a related field.
    • Creative problem-solver with proficiency in both theory and hands-on skills.
    • Experience with large, distributed control systems preferred.
    • Experience with closed-loop motion control preferred.
    • Understanding of functional safety standards preferred, including ISO12100, IEC 62061, and ISO
    • Familiarity with Beckhoff and Siemens control hardware and software preferred.
    • Knowledge of TAIT Navigator software advantageous.
    • Expected Travel: 20-40%
