    Control System Design Engineer

    Location: Colchester, Essex (commutable from Ipswich, Cambridge, and Chelmsford)

    Salary: depending upon experience plus benefits

    Role Description

    This is a full-time on-site role for a Control System Design Engineer located in Colchester. The Engineer will be responsible for control systems design, electrical engineering, systems engineering, PLC Programming, Testing and on site testing & commissioning of industrial automation control & safety systems.

    The Role will include:

    • Developing complex designs, detailed layouts, mechanical design and wiring schematics for safety / control systems using AutoCAD.
    • Hardware and Software design engineering
    • PLC Programming – writing & developing code – Allan Bradley Rockwell, etc..
    • Reviewing project specifications and determining project requirements
    • Working on both new and existing Schemes to develop detailed designs
    • Developing functional design specifications and documentation for new projects
    • Designing SCADA systems and HMi's
    • Perform testing & validation of hardware/software systems
    • Optimising design via simulations, testing & development
    • Participate in design & technical meetings with customers/stakeholders
    • Internal System Testing of new systems.
    • On site commissioning of new systems both UK and worldwide

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    • AutoCAD Knowledge & Experience – This is a must and we will require evidence of this prior to hiring.
    • Experienced in PLC programming – Allen Bradley as a minimum
    • Systems, Software & Hardware development experience
    • Degree in Control, Automation or Electrical Engineering is preferred
    • PLC / SCADA system design & development, including safety
    • Industrial communications experience – ProfiBus, Ethernet, DeviceNet
    • Experience with Emulation & Simulation software an advantage
    • Strong & effective communicator
    • Willing to travel throughout the UK & overseas if needed
    • Rail Industry knowledge would be advantageous
