The Role


To provide project and administrative support across CAA STEM and Skills delivery as part of the Department for Transport Generation Aviation Programme.

Objectives may be adjusted to enable the role holder to support other areas whether this specific to one project/business area or more generic HR Group support.

Typically, role holders will have customer service and administration skills. All role holders are expected to operate within specified authority levels and applicable customer requirements.


Core Accountabilities

  • Support Skills lead with the delivery of the Reach for the Sky programme
  • Maintain website requirements and changes.
  • Prepare and present reports for managers with well thought out recommendations or solutions and the rationale for these.
  • Liaise with internal staff and external partners to help coordinate resources.
  • Communicate policies and how they impact on decisions taken to stakeholders both verbally and in writing and provide clarification and explanation on more complex issues.
  • Support the STEM Affinity network members to ensure legal requirements are met; Risk Assessments/Public liability/safeguarding.
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders to provide guidance, education or discuss decisions.
  • Monitoring skills social media groups to ensure grant recipients are kept informed.
  • Work closely with the communications and media team supporting the internal and external promotion of the STEM and Reach for the Sky Skills programme.
  • Support procurement processes when onboarding suppliers and partners.
  • Responsible for analysing data or research material, conducting research activities supporting colleagues and management.
  • Ensure that enquiries from internal and/or external customers are forwarded to key focal points in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with external organisations as required.

About You

To be considered for the role we are looking for:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • must be able to communicate effectively and confidently.

  • Good IT skills, specifically in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Good attention to detail must be able to produce numerical and written data accurately.
  • Good planning and organisational skills able to work to deadlines.

  • 5 GCSE's A-C / 94 or equivalent (must include Maths and English)
  • 2 A levels or equivalent
  • Some officebased work experience would be advantageous.

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
