Description

We are looking for a enthusiastic individual to join our team in the Gynaecology Inpatient ward at Liverpool Women's Hospital.

He/she will be responsible for the units daily administrative duties, overall cleanliness and reporting of maintenance within the unit in order to offer a safe and well organised service.

Liverpool Women's provides care for approximately 10,000 women a year. The role demands excellent communication skills, IT experience and customer service skills.

As the housekeeper you must possess good communication skills, have a friendly approachable attitude and be able to work under pressure within a team.

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the department.


Report jobs via the Estates & Facilities Help Desk and follow through to completion, including liaising with technicians to arrange access to patient area.


Following specific specialised training and competency assessment source, order, receive and distribute all of the units equipment and supplies within the unit.

All orders to be received, checked, appropriately stored and any discrepancies resolved

Conduct monthly audits and/or assist nurses with audits

Order, receipt and distribute staff uniforms

Ensure all stock is replenished in a timely manner.

Assist in providing beverages/ food to patients.

Assist in the cleaning and preparation of rooms.

Report clinical equipment for repair to medical engineers and arrange for decontamination of equipment before it leaves the ward/clinic.

General housekeeping of Gynaecology inpatient/HDU and admissions lounge.

To maintain a standard of conduct and personal appearance which will instil a sense of confidence in the staff, patients and visitors

Manage own time and prioritise work load effectively and efficiently.

Mandatory training

Possess basic IT skills

To familiarise self with hospital policies

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the department.

  • Ensure that linen has arrived each morning and liaise with laundry. This includes scrubs and ensuring these are stored correctly, stocked and disposed of appropriately.
  • Report any untoward incidents/minor repairs or actions that require attention to the shift lead.
  • Report jobs via the Estates & Facilities Help Desk and follow through to completion, including liaising with technicians to arrange access to patient area. Keep record of the above.
  • Following specific specialised training and competency assessment source, order, receive and distribute all ward/clinic equipment and supplies through online ordering to ensure that the most appropriate equipment and supplies are available as required within the ward/clinic. This task involves ordering regular stock through Trust NEP system from on line catalogue, standing orders for specialist equipment/supplies and ad hoc ordering. All orders to be received, checked, appropriately stored and any discrepancies resolved
  • Conduct monthly/weekly audits as instructed by the department manager and assist nurses with audits to be reported to various Trust Committees eg: Health & Safety Audits
  • Order, receipt and distribute staff uniforms in accordance with Code of Dress Policy.
  • Ensure all stock is replenished in a timely manner and ensure ordered stock is put away appropriately.
  • Ensure all clinical and nonclinical rooms are adequately stocked and tidy on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the Inpatient area providing beverages/ food to patients.
  • Assist in the cleaning and preparation of clinical rooms.
  • General housekeeping of Gynaecology inpatient/HDU and admissions lounge, ensure corridors, rooms and exits free from clutter and waste.
  • Manage own time and prioritise work load effectively and efficiently.
  • Daily fridge temperatures taken and recorded.
  • Report clinical equipment for repair to medical engineers and arrange for decontamin
