    Description

    We are looking for a confident Legal Support Assistant with excellent organisational skills, knowledge of ICT software packages and a keen eye for detail to join our busy team.

    This is a permanent post of 31.5 hours per week providing specialist and comprehensive support to the Legal and Democratic Services Team of North Somerset Council.

    Additionally, Legal Services provides support to Council Solicitors so they can provide legal advice to any Council department that needs it, and act on behalf of those departments in legal actions.

    You will be expected to prioritise workload and the ability to work under pressure and remain focused to meet any time constraints in any matter and work well in a virtual team setting.

    This is a career grade post starting at Level 3 progressing to Level 4. Please be advised that this office will be closed by 2025.

    You will need to be able to work well under pressure, to deal with a variety of people at all levels both within and outside the Council, work as part of a team and under as an individual, and be willing to be flexible in your working day.

    Practical work experience to give an understanding of the processes and practices required and support working in a range of independent settings.

    Good command of written English to produce clear and concise documents and written and oral advice to service users and members of the public relating to School Appeals.

    Ability to identify legal issues and provide signposting.
