The Fortius Group is the UK's leading private orthopaedic and sports injury group.
Founded in London by a group of leading Orthopaedic Surgeons and Radiologists, with a shared vision of building a worldwide centre of excellence in musculoskeletal care.
Their vision was to create a clinic that would bring together the country's leading experts in orthopaedics and sports injury treatment, with a shared commitment to advancing the science of medicine and a better patient experience.
That group of experts now includes over 80 leading specialists, with two outpatient and diagnostic clinics, a surgical centre and an innovative inpatient unit for joint replacement surgery, in partnership with Bupa.
Our dedicated orthopaedic surgical centre is due to open in October later this year.You will be part of a newly formed theatre team, working from a state-of-the-art facility in London's West End, and providing comprehensive care to perioperative patients who have undergone day surgery.
Along with the rest of the theatre team, you will share responsibility for the management and organisation of the operating department, helping to ensure smooth, timely and efficient processes and procedures within a safe environment.
You will promote safeguarding and risk management in respect of patients, employees and visitors.Reporting to the Theatre Manager, you will lead a team of scrub practioners working closely with anaesthetic and recovery colleagues.
The ASC is a day care centre with three operating theatres dedicated to orthopaedic surgery.Key Performance Indicators
Clinical quality indicators (such as infection rates).
Deliver first class, patient care.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement.
Ensure strict adhesion to legislation, policies and procedures.
Lead a team of scrub practioners taking overall responsibility for the delivery of the service.
Ensure the safe care of the patient during the perioperative phase of their care.
Assemble, check and prepare the appropriate surgical instruments and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of surgery.
Conduct mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure.Monitor the patient's condition throughout the procedure, taking appropriate action to manage any arising complications through contingency planning.
Communicate effectively with all other members of multi-disciplinary team involved in the care of the patient.
Lead and mentor the scrub team and theatre staff more widely
Ensure any accidents or complaints are fully documented and that the appropriate manager is informed.
Drive improvement in practice and policy when changes have arisen resulting from an audit, complaint or newly issued guidance.
Work within NMC or HPC Codes of Practice.Fortius Clinic Staff – internal and external to ASC
Registered Practitioner with NMC or HPC registration
Surgical First Assistant course
Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, reacting quickly in an emergency when required
Evidence of continuous professional development
Knowledge of orthopaedic day surgery
