Purpose of the role
You will be responsible for delivering ESG technical audit and assurance requirements to Clients.

The Sustainability and the Journey to Net Zero will prove to be the greatest business challenge of the decade with significant risk and opportunity broughtnot just by climate change but all environmental, social and governance factors that investors, consumers & customers, capital providers, supply chains, colleagues and competitors will be focusing on.

The role is specific to this service delivery only.

Youwill manage a portfolio of ESG audit & assurance clients, meet the needs of the clients and to maximise the fee income of the portfolio, by delivering MHA services.

To effectively manage resources and the workflow between clients and meet all relevant deadlines.

Main responsibilities

Portfolio Management

  • Plan, control, deliver and review client work to ensure that the jobs are completed as efficiently and effectively as possible by allocating the resources available.
  • Ensure the ESG Sub service within audit is covered with clients where appropriate, to establish the events that have had an impact on the business and any areas needing particular attention.
  • Prepare a time budget for each assignment.
  • Ensure relevant technical information for the main audit or accounts planning memorandum is completed This will include details of any potential anomalies or any difficulties that have been encountered during previous audits.
  • Brief audit or accounts staff on the client and the nature of its business ensuring that the most cost effective approach to the job is clearly communicated. Carry out debrief and provide feedback at end of assignments with the Head of Technical ESG.
  • Ensure that all information relating to the service is complete and that audit or assurance work is sufficient to enable the Partner to form an opinion on the accounts.
  • Monitor work in progress on all jobs within the ESG portfolio.
  • Ensure all hours worked on any client are recorded correctly, enabling a true reflection of the profitability of the job to be shown.
  • Draft all relevant summary technical information covering all material issues for review and sign off by the relevant managers.
  • Being responsible for the quality of deliverables produced, including qualitative and quantitative analysis as well as written and verbal advice.

Business advisory/ad hoc work

  • Identify opportunities for additional services that MHA MacIntyre Hudson can provide to clients.
  • Identify and target new clients through networking, marketing, and client referrals.
  • Adhoc project work which may include compliance or valueadded services.
  • Be proactive in involving other experts i.e., Corporate Finance, Tax where relevant.
  • Promote and use marketing materials and other such resources.
  • Be involved in tenders and presentations on related assignments and new work proposals.

Communications & Development

  • Keep Partners/Directors informed on how jobs are progressing, on client matters, proposed strategies on dealing with clients, signing off jobs and ensure fee targets are met.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with target clients and key market constituents.
  • Proactive and highly tangible sector mapping to identify targets and new opportunities.
  • Audit/accounts staff provide technical advice & what is expected of them and any review points that arise.
  • Any other compliance matters in line with HR Policies and Procedures.

Decision making parameters

  • Agree the setting the budget for individual jobs with Head of ESG Technical.
  • Variance to fee to be agreed with line manager and reported immediately.
  • Decisions on the treatment of technical issues made with line manager.

Qualifications and skills

  • Experience within a similar role is critical.
  • Experience of Large Entities & Listed / PIE covering a range of industries.
  • Management/supervisory experience
  • Client focus and commercial awareness.
  • Organisational skills the ability to juggle several different tasks at once.
  • Team building skills.
  • Analytical thinking/problem solving.
