We are currently looking for a Supervisor for a Thermo Department.


Reporting to the Production Manager, the Supervisor will hold responsibility and accountability for the effective running of production equipment in Thermo Department at the Gosport Grange facility.


The role is working a 7 day rotating shift pattern working 6am - 6pm including alternate weekends with a 26% shift allowance.

To be responsible for the calibre, capability and effectiveness of shift subordinates.

The Team Supervisor will effectively engage, assess, mentor, coach and train to the required standard, seeking external assistance when and where required.

They will continually develop and review the team to maintain capability at the appropriate level in line with changing needs of the business.

Conduct regular direct report 1:1's, annual appraisals and team hold meetings as appropriate in a timely manner with appropriate documentation.

Ensure all production activities are conducted in line with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), following up any noncompliance appropriately.

Monitor, report on and manage operational costs to agreed targets, establishing a viable framework for annual cost improvement Facilitate training and transfer of routine engineering tasks into production hence allowing production personnel to up-skill.

Establish, practice and promote open and meaningful communication (verbal and written) within and across departments, promoting positive team working at all times.

Develop and maintain team working with internal and external suppliers, colleagues and customers. Continuously develop knowledge and understanding of production technology, industry markets, products, company procedures/policies, customers and industry best practice. Participate in continuous improvement projects as required. Team leaders should be trained to 6-sigma green-belt standard.

Main responsibilities

Effective partnership with the Thermoforming team in order to deliver consistent production of high-quality product.

Deploying appropriate Engineering resources to enable the Thermoforming Team to achieve agreed outputs


Set Engineering priorities as determined by the daily plan and/or the Manufacturing Manager, taking into account individual experience, line priorities and plant availability where necessary.


Ensure rigid compliance with agreed safety standards including compliance with legislative requirements, internal Huhtamaki safety policies, systems and procedures and industry best practice.

Effective liaison with Departmental Leaders to ensure all employees have appropriate training, supervision, qualifications and skill in this regard.

Maintain manufacturing standards in line with Huhtamaki policies including:

  • Housekeeping and general GMP
Employee appearance, work wear, hygiene and PPE

Workforce behaviours

Audit compliance

Attendance, absence and timekeeping

  • Proven supervisory & Leadership experience with technical experience, including diagnostic and fault finding skills


Qualified to a minimum of GCSE Grade C or above in English, Maths and Science with a HNC in a Mechanical qualification or equivalent experience as a Senior Operator.

IOSH / NBOSH training & ILM level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management would be an advantage.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must with proven change management experience.
