Job description
This crucial, mid management role supports the Head of Operations and Strategy to manage the operational and business aspects of Summer Programmes and work with other colleagues in operations across the Centre for International Education and Languages to align policies, process and approaches.
Reporting to the Head of Operations and Strategy, the role holder is responsible for the management of all programmes under the Summer Programmes umbrella.
They will also have delegated responsibility for aspects of business management including tracking against original business plans, developing costing tools and managing financial targets.
In consultation with the Programme Development Manager, they may take a role in account managing relationships with commercial third parties.
The role involves a dynamic and varying workload throughout the year with the busiest time being the summer programme delivery period from mid June to mid August when this person is expected to be present on campus in London.
Outside of programme delivery periods, all team members are currently permitted to work remotely for part of the week as part of King's trial of hybrid working.
When office-based, this person will work out of the beautiful, full refurbished, Bush House buildings on the Aldwych. As some programmes are developed and delivered outside the UK, there may be an opportunity for international travel.Please also be prepared to travel for meetings and between campuses and, on occasion, represent the university at events in the evening/at weekends.
About Summer Programmes
Summer Programmes is a specialist creative business development unit in the School of International Education and Languages that designs, develops and delivers open and bespoke seasonal international education programmes in line with King's Education Strategy.
Its portfolio includes flagship undergraduate and pre-university summer schools, customised undergraduate and postgraduate student programming for international partners, short courses and overseas programmes offered in face-to-face, blended and online modalities.
King's Centre for International Education and Languages a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King's.
It brings together three existing areas:
King's Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King's Language Centre.
This brings together international pathway provision, pre sessional programmes, pre-UG summer courses, UG summer modules, UG language modules, bespoke language programmes for the community and our partners and academic skills provision for all King's students.
Each of these areas are well established, respected and recognised within and beyond the King's community.The Centre is focused on enabling collaboration between the three departments to further advance our work in promoting educational excellence and supporting and enhancing the student experience.
The Centre has significant expertise in International Education and makes a significant contribution to the rich and diverse make-up of the King's student body.

Programme Operations (70%)
Lead the programme administration across all programmes, managing all operational aspects of the cohort of programmes including enrolment, timetables, module information, programme handbooks, engagement monitoring, progression, attendance monitoring and changes in circumstance, occupational health and completion.
Oversee the seasonal staffing (academic, GTA, professional services, ambassadors) recruitment
Together with the Programme Development Manager, manage the launch process of new programmes including the marketing launch, programme modifications, and all necessary approvals and changes, liaising with appropriate parties as relevant;
Responsible for delivering a robust planning cycle that supports competing operational routines; ensuring limited administrative resources are deployed across varying priorities and are able to be flexible across the annual cycle.
