    Job summary

    Hywel Dda University Health Board Research and Development team is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Band 4 Research Assistant to provide administrative support for commercial / non-commercial clinical trials and research studies across the Health successful candidate will play a key role in the administration and data management support for all aspects of the Research Delivery Team at Bronglais Hospital, as well as working alongside a large geographically spread team to support researchers with high quality studies throughout the health board.

    The post holder will need a willingness to learn about research trial set-up, protocols and their application to practice, including local, national and international research regulations, which should enable them to assist in the support of the research delivery team. They should be willing to work flexibly to support the service, have excellent communication, organisational and computer literacy skills as well as being able to work well as part of a team.

    Main duties of the job

    The Research Assistant will work as part of the research delivery team supporting work on Health and Care Research Wales Portfolio main purpose of the job is to: -

    o provide administrative and data management support for all aspects of the trial organisation as an integrated member of the teamo assist with the co-ordination of a portfolio of clinical trials across various disease siteso provide a limited amount of clinical support where appropriate to facilitate the delivery of a clinical trial.

    The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

    Qualifications & Knowledge

    Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent knowledge in healthcare
  • Previous experience in research/NHS environment
  • Knowledge of Medical / Healthcare Terminology
  • Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent
  • ECDL
  • Certificate in ICH Good Clinical Practice
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical trials
  • Experience

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages [Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and e-mail]
  • Experience of setting up spreadsheets and databases
  • Experience of working in a busy complex environment
