    Description

    Harland & Wolff, a fast growing shipping and marine engineering business, is looking for an experienced Financial Controller with responsibility for its Marine Services and Isles of Scilly (IOS) Ferry business.

    As part of its five-market, six-service business growth strategy, Harland & Wolff recently commenced its marine services offering under Harland & Wolff (Marine Services) Ltd.

    (HWMS), HWMS will be focussed on growing and maturing its UK and Europe-wide sea freight, towage and workboat charter offering to its clients in addition to dealing with internal movement of structures and parts between the Group's yards and client facilities.

    HWMS will be the exclusive freight and logistics partner for Scilly Ferries.

    The Group has recently implemented a matrix structure with the HWMS & IOS Controller reporting functionally to the Director of Group Finance and operationally to two General Managers (Marine Services and IOS).

    This role has one direct report, an Accounts Payable Analyst.

    Responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of HWMS & Scilly Ferries, including financial reporting; financial planning and analysis; risk management.

    Providing strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive growth, improve operational efficiencies and maximise profitability.

    Financial Reporting:

    Coordinate timely and accurate financial reporting including monthly financial statements, management reports, Board packs, and statutory accounts, ensuring maintenance of supporting reconciliations.


    Cash Flow Management:

    Manage and monitor cash flow, including forecasting cash flow requirements and liaising with the Group Treasury Manager to ensure sufficient liquidity, timely payment of debts and debt collection.


    Financial Planning and Analysis:
    Coordinate and produce budget and financial forecasts in line with Group requirements, including reporting any variances.

    Audit and Compliance:

    Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and external regulatory requirements, and managing external audit processes for the site.


    Taxation:

    Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, managing the tax planning and reporting processes for the site.


    Processes and Procedures:

    Working closely with the Business, ERP Team and Financial Controllers across the Group to ensure harmonisation of procedures, systems improvements and other ad-hoc projects.

    In addition to your financial responsibilities, you would also be expected to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or similar)
    ~3+ years in a similar role within marine services, ferry service or manufacturing
    ~Excellent understanding of accounting processes and the need for appropriate controls in place.
    ~ Proficient in the use of Excel and PowerPoint

    5+ years' experience post qualification within marine services, ferry service or manufacturing
