    Job summary

    Our Emergency Department is seeking Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the A&E team.

    Would you like the opportunity to join our Northumbria Family and work in our fast paced Emergency Department where two days are never the same? Learn new skills or develop the skills you already have to provide high quality care to patients from triage to resuscitation?

    We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic nurses who have a passion for patient assessment and Emergency Care provision.

    We have an excellent staff training programme and look forward to new staff embracing the development and skills our Emergency Department has to offer. We work a pattern of days, nights and weekends to provide excellent care to our Emergency patients. We have a wide range of skills and experience within our team which make it the perfect environment to develop your skills through hands on experience and challenges

    Main duties of the job

  • Providing Emergency Care to the patients of North Tyneside, Northumberland and Beyond.
  • Duties include initiating safe and high quality care, continuing assessments of acutely unwell patients and resuscitation of patients.

    Job responsibilities

    Staff Nurse:

    To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.

    To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/dept in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.

    To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

    To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.

    To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

    Essential

  • Staff Nurse: 1st Level NMC registered Nurse
  • Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18-month period).
  • Desirable

  • Staff Nurse: PP126/7
  • Staff Nurse: D32/33
  • Staff Nurse: Post Registration qualification in speciality
  • Diploma/degree in nursing
  • Previous experience working in Emergency Care
  • Manchester Triage training
