Description
The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities

leading on the Trust's overarching objectives.

Environment and Sustainability Strategy will pay part of the wider remit of work undertaken by the Estates and Facilities and Projects department for Whittington Health.


The post holder will ensure that all patient and staff environments meet the requisite high standards expected by the Trust.

Provide detailed business case folders to support development of the existing infrastructure to future proof services going forward.


The post holder will deputise for the Deputy Director and provide support to all other members of the Estates and Facilities team and have an active role in overseeing the day-to-day performance of the department.

Provide detailed weekly and monthly reports to the Deputy Director Estates and Facilities and internal trust governance, reporting on identified whilst keeping the risk register up to date.

Manage building and engineering services delivering a compliant and financially sustainable service that meet the needs of the Trust.


Ensure Department has sufficient Authorised Engineers/Approved Responsible/Appointed and competent persons to ensure the Department acts in accordance with the required procedures.


Develop, implement and monitor good management practices in respect of the design, construction, and delivery of assigned projects including relevant procurement and H&S processes and procedures.

To lead on delivery of operational E&F services and provide technical leadership to senior Management and the team.

Manage staff/resources allocated to the job.

Understand, and ensure the principles and statutory regulations for Health & Safety are complied with throughout the project lifecycle.

Administer/manage cost/variation procedures as applicable under the relevant Appointment or Contract.


Responsible for auditing, reviewing, proposing, and implementing service improvements wherever possible in the form of operational policies and PPM systems, for plant, equipment, and buildings to ensure compliance with H&S obligations.

Responsibility for maintaining one or more information systems, to preserve all relevant estates records using IT, TREND Building Management. System (BMS) or paper records for statutory and legal reasons.

To become an "Approved Person" for High Voltage, Low Voltage and Piped Medical Gases.

Participate in the Directorate Emergency On-call arrangement.

To ensure the Estates Department has sufficient Authorised Engineers/Approved/Responsible Appointed and competent persons to ensure the Estates Department act in accordance with the required procedures.

Provide feasibility studies (as required) on proposed areas of work and change for Whittington Health, including holding and leading workshops and meetings to better understand the needs of the client.


Develop, implement, and monitor good management practices in respect of the design, construction, and delivery of assigned projects including relevant procurement and health/ safety processes and procedures, ensuring all projects go through Whittington Health's approval process in a timely manner and to a high quality of submission.


The post holder will lead on delivery of operational Estates and Facilities services and provide technical leadership to senior Management and the team.


Work with colleagues in the Estate Department to ensure clear communications are in place for each of the projects and their history and knowledge is understood, especially in terms of equipment and finish standards.

Join stakeholders to ensure delivery within the allocated budgets and contracted timescales and performance in respect of quality/ specification.


Be part of the programming of the Capital 5-year plan as well as input on the Estates strategy, providing expert advice.
