    Job Description

Tallented is working exclusively with an educational Trust based across the South Coast to find their new Senior Finance Business Partner. The role has come about as a result of an internal promotion, and the role reports to the former holder of this position, ensuring a smooth transition.

The role will primarily support 2 roles within the Trust, one in Eastleigh and the other in Highcliffe, spending 2 days per week on each site, the other at Head Office or worked from home. Face time is important for the role and the Trust.

The core responsibilities of the role:

    • Build and maintain positive relationships with assigned Schools'/units' senior leadership, acting as trusted financial expert
    • Provide a comprehensive service of support, advice, analysis and challenge, ensuring key information is shared, evidence-based recommendations are made to support Schools/unit's senior leadership objectives and inform local financial decision-making
    • Co-ordinate month end close down processes, ensuring deadlines and expectations are communicated to school colleagues
    • Produce monthly reconciliations for own schools/units and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of those produced across the business partnering team
    • Calculated, input and record monthly accruals, prepayments, and adjustments including corrections and recharges
    • Produce accurate monthly management accounts and forecasts on a timely and consistent basis including written commentaries covering insights, trends and issues/resolutions
    • Review on a regular basis financial information with budget holders, ensuring that variances are understood and clear action plans are implemented as necessary
    • Ensure appropriate school/unit budgetary sign off, including the appropriate, local approval of month payroll and ensure the payroll journals are posted onto the accounting system
    • Investigate and resolve complex financial enquiries and undertake complex financial analysis for assigned portfolio
    • Provide resource management support and expertise, liaising as appropriate with other managed service functions, ensuring information for stakeholders is aligned with national benchmarks to aid decision making
    • Ensure school/unit leaders are kept informed of national and local education funding and funding opportunities are maximised

Prior experience within the Educational Sector would be desired, but is not necessary. Applicants with experience within the NHS or Charity sector would have strong transferable skills as understanding that the best decisions for a school isn't always the best financial decision.

The role is an 18M FTC - with a likelihood to turn permanent, but without complete certainty on the future of the role, the Finance team would prefer to be transparent about the situation.

The role will pay between £45,000 and £60,000, dependent on experience.
