Job Description:


Morgan McKinley is looking for an Accounting Technician required for a local education organisation based in Swindon on a permanent basis due to the increased volume of workload.


You will be tasked with the following:

  • Maintain accounts ensuring the requirements of the Internal and External Audit Teams are met, ensuring the accounts are up to date and maintained accurately to allow the HOF and FBP to use the accounts to inform decision making.
  • Prepare financial reports for the HOF and FBP and other parties as necessary.
  • Work together with all members of the Central Finance Team to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to financial support and administration across the organisation.
  • To act as system administrator on both accounting software and ancillary software (such as budgeting software) and provide support to school admin staff.
  • Sales invoicing processing transactions.
  • 2nd stage supplier query resolution.
  • Payroll checking and sign off, checking for accuracy and ensuring that changes advised have been acted upon.
  • Processing journals and internal recharges including accruals and prepayments as necessary to ensure income/expenditure is accounted for in the correct period.
  • Carry out monthend balance sheet reconciliations, daily bank transaction posting, bank payment creation and manage Credit Card reconciliation
  • Process Consolidated VAT returns with HMRC
  • Provide support to audit visit.

What you will need:


  • Experience of Month End procedures, bank reconciliation and processing financial transactions
  • Experience of HMRC VAT Returns
  • Experience of Payroll
  • Strong Excel skills, analytical skills, and ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly
  • Experience in working with internal and external auditors
  • Excellent organisational skills, communication skills and attention to detail.
