    What does this role include?

    This role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to lead the development of our suite of products and related strategies within the Personal Banking lending space, which includes mortgages and other retail lending products.

    This is a prominent role within our Commercial Development Department, right at the centre of our customer focused activity, and reporting directly to the Managing Director of Commercial Development. As Head of Products for retail lending, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of customer strategy, product proposition & innovation, product development/maintenance and commercial returns.

    Collaboration with other areas of the Bank is essential as is engagement on a regular basis with the most senior levels within our organisation. You will be expected to drive creativity, be customer obsessed as well as ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring good outcomes for customers. This role requires strong leadership with the ability to coach and develop the wider team; resilience, adaptability and creativity are key skills within the Commercial Development Department.

    Head of Products – essential skills

  • Extensive demonstrable experience of leading, designing & implementing a commercial and/or customer strategy at a business unit and/or product area level within a financial services setting.
  • Extensive experience of implementing change initiatives with a proven impact on business and customers.
  • Demonstrable strong experience of delivering ambitious commercial goals with a strong customer focus within a financial services setting.
  • Experience in leading, managing, coaching and developing teams.
  • Evidence of communicating with at senior levels in internally and with external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.

    As well as offering a competitive salary, this role includes 40 days annual leave per year (30 days leave plus 10 days paid bank holidays), funded private medical care, up to 10% pension contribution and a car allowance.

    How we work

    Our belief is that we are " Better when Together " and want to balance the benefits of teaming up in person with flexible working where possible. This is a 35 hour per week role, but flexibility and some travel may be required depending on business needs.

    We work in a hybrid environment and we ask colleagues to attend their base location a minimum of 3 days a week so they can connect, collaborate and learn together. The other 2 days can be worked either from home or another bank location. Some of our roles are customer facing which means that it's really important to be able to work with customers face to face and hybrid working isn't appropriate.
