    Commercial Cost Manager - Mission Critical Construction

    London, UK

    Salary: £100,000-£120,000 (dependant on experience)

    Full time position

    TGS is working with a UK-based construction consultancy that has been in business for over 15 years, specialising in mission critical and high-end commercial projects across the EMEA region. Due to significant growth, they are in need of a Commercial Manager in London.

    The role serves as the financial focal point for numerous major tender responses within the global business unit. It involves supporting new and existing proposals, delivering timely cost and price analysis, and assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of program cost control goals, policies, and procedures from pre-contract to post-delivery. This position plays a crucial role in independently assessing cost, risk, and profitability.

    Candidates should expect that domestic and international travel may be required.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Ensuring accurate financial applications are applied to estimates for precise costing and pricing.
    • Managing all phases of cost/price proposal preparation and evaluation, including senior management review.
    • Working closely with the business to collect relevant information, populate models, and sanitize data.
    • Performing various analyses, including scenario analysis, 'what if' comparisons, sensitivity analysis, Price to Win, NPVS, IRRs, and KPI calculations. Developing financial models on an ad-hoc basis.
    • Advising management on financial and economic risks and Win Themes, aligned with company business objectives.
    • Contributing to the creation and management of first-class data systems and metrics to support the estimation process and price analysis.
    • Performing historical analysis to create parametric models for future tendering efforts.
    • Addressing commercial issues and collaborating closely with the Contracts team.
    • Working on scoping issues and collaborating closely with project estimators and project management.
    • Assisting the Project Accounting team with ongoing analysis deliverables.
    • Using knowledge of business unit operations to play an integral role in significant worldwide proposals and supporting design to cost and price to win activities.
    • Standardising the proposal process worldwide (from design to cost, price to win to final submittal).
    • Participating in key interactions with the Finance Project Accounting role, supporting the capture of critical business planning and reporting data.
    • Complying with client values and adhering to all company policies and procedures, including the code of conduct, quality, security, and occupational health, safety, and environmental policies.
    • Negotiating Terms & Conditions with Sub-Contractors, managing Subcontractor accounts.
    • Procuring Subcontractor Packages; managing Subcontractor accounts; assisting with the preparation of Subcontract inquiries.

    What you'll need for the role:

    • Proficient knowledge of advanced Excel skills (Macro Level) and PowerPoint.
    • Experience in project-based accounting and project commercial matters.
    • Experience in the proposal gateway process and a thorough understanding of business priorities and requirements.
    • Commercial acumen and the ability to cope with change and conflicting demands.
    • Commercial experience and expertise in reviewing customer request documentation (Requests for Tender, etc.) to understand responsiveness requirements and identify key FT attributes.
    • Experience dealing with high monetary value projects preferred.
    • Understanding of SOX and US GAAP preferred.

    What you'll need for the role:

    • A degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting or equivalent relevant on-the-job experience.

    It would be even better if you had:

    • MBA and or CPA or similar.
    • MRICS or similar
    • Sc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying.
    • GNVQ Level 2 Advanced Construction.
