    How you'll make a difference

    As a healthy lifestyles coordinator you will make a difference by supporting people in our community to stop smoking.

    This post is a limited term contract due to end March . We are also offering this as an internal secondment opportunity, you should first seek your line managers permission before applying. This post is restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only.

    What will you be doing?

  • In this role, you will be motivating and empowering clients to make behaviour changes by providing high quality support and interventions to those seeking help to stop smoking. Interventions may be by telephone, text, email or face to face.
  • Daily you will be managing a caseload of clients, recording and reporting data, including follow up and evaluation to ensure behaviour change is sustained.
  • You will organise and participate in outreach events to engage harder to reach clients in stop smoking support services. This may include small groups in specific community or workplace locations.
  • It will be your responsibility to develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and partners including primary care and the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector
  • You will participate in promotional and campaigning events like No Smoking Day or Stoptober.
  • What we need from you

  • We require you to have good interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to build relationships and engage successfully with stakeholders and clients from a variety of backgrounds.
  • You will be self-motivated and able to work well both as part of a team and using your own initiative. You will be able to work occasionally at planned evenings or weekends.
  • It is essential for you to be organised and can manage a caseload and prioritise your work to meet deadlines and targets.
  • You may have or can develop a secure knowledge base around tobacco control. This includes obtaining the two-day National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT) Certified Practitioner qualification, with appropriate support.
