My client is an established Debt Fund who specialises in Real Estate lending. They are recruiting for an experienced Restructuring & Recoveries Director to join the Credit Risk team.

Overview

A restructuring/workout role to support the existing risk team to primarily manage challenging development finance loan workout situations with a key client-facing requirement. Responsible for managing recovery cases by applying and implementing appropriate recovery, asset enforcement, litigation, distressed debt restructuring, lender build out and insolvency processes and procedures. Experience of appointment of LPA Receivers / Administrators / Liquidators is required

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing the loans classed as special situations and maintaining a detailed working knowledge of each transaction and progress though the recovery/workout process.
• Becoming the key contact with clients either in or potentially to fall into a formal loan default. These will be designated by Credit Committee as "special situations".
• Liaise directly with third party stakeholders such as: lawyers, insolvency professionals, surveyors, and sales agents while building and growing a data base of the most appropriate recovery specialists depending on exit strategy.
• Lead asset recovery strategies, consensual disposals and formal enforcement processes where required.
• Preparation of strategic proposals to Credit Committee.
• Complete and provide timely credit reporting across the "special situations" portfolio.
• Maintain close monitoring of legal costs of recovery and negotiating advisor renumeration.
• Working closely with the company's in house project monitoring team and, as required, their appointed panel IMS firm in respect of ongoing construction matters and exit strategy.
• Responsibility for any required amendments to existing security documentation or facility agreements working in conjunction of the Lender's appointed panel solicitor firm.
• Producing formal demand letters to borrowers and appointment letters for LPAs, Administrators or Liquidators in, conjunction with the Lender's appointed panel solicitor firm.

What you will Bring

• Significant experience in a real estate recovery team (or as a specialist recovery role on a stand alone basis) Experience to include: Court litigation, distressed and consensual restructuring, LPA and Insolvency Practitioner appointments.
• Some knowledge of enforcing on individual guarantee providers and bankruptcy procedure and appointment of trustee in bankruptcy.
• A detailed knowledge of all aspects of residential development finance with some knowledge of commercial investment finance.
• Knowledge and awareness of the regulatory framework around corporate and personal insolvency.
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to work with corporate and personal borrowers/guarantors who are facing challenging stressed trading situations and attendant financial difficulties.
• Clear and concise Report writing skills.
• Strong analytical skills and cash flow modelling experience.
• Solid understanding of property lending principles.
• Strong IT skills (Word and Excel).
• Financial modelling skills.

Salary: up to £140k (depending on experience)

Location: London 4 days a week (1 day working from home)
