Seven Resourcing is working with Solihull Council to recruit a Senior Education Improvement Advisor for their Education Service in Children's Social Services.

Initial 3 month contract.

£32 per hour.


Job Purpose:


Take a lead role in designing, implementing and quality-assuring the Solihull's school improvement and risk assessment strategy across local schools and academies.

Ensure an up-to-date analysis of all schools and a risk management system that delivers evidence-based improvement for all cohorts especially those deemed vulnerable, such as looked after children.

Work with school leadership teams to build capacity across the whole range of schools, academies and other learning providers in Solihull.

To lead local authority engagement with one or more community collaborative(s) of schools
To engage with other services within and beyond the local authority to help ensure schools and academies have the services and support they require to meet the needs of the children, young people and families they serve
Take a lead role in a specified area of service design and delivery


Duties:


  • To play a lead role in the development of an improvement strategy (in partnership with key stakeholders) that responds to the needs of all Solihull pupils and ensures that Solihull schools, academies and other learning providers are the universal services at the heart of the community working collaboratively, in partnership with the LA, public services, other agencies and organisations providing high quality education and services to effectively meet the needs and aspirations of children, families and the community
  • To support the development and implementation of a systematic process of risk assessment that is appropriate and proportionate and determines the support and intervention needs of schools and academies in Solihull and good practice that might be shared
  • To work in partnership with all schools to build capacity across the schools system enabling schooltoschool support that brings fast improvement.
  • To make recommendations to the local authority on its potential use of intervention and other statutory powers
  • To play a lead role in the senior management of an area of the school improvement service.
  • Take responsibility for the writing of any necessary improvement plans and their delivery in allocated schools and academies covering leadership capacity, teaching and learning and all aspects of inclusion and key areas for improvement including the achievement of children in care.
  • To lead the quality assurance of the delivery of these plans
  • To contribute a robust system of evidencebased selfevaluation to help improve the service and develop accountability
  • To liaise with DfE and Ofsted and other partners on school improvement and related issues
  • To provide line management and performance management to all those reporting to the Senior Adviser
  • To contribute to the development of integrated working across children's services in Solihull
  • To ensure effective value for money in relation to support and intervention work in schools and academies
  • To undertake such duties and responsibilities as determined by the Assistant Director Education, Inclusion & Access and/or the Head of Education Outcomes & Intervention.
  • To prepare reports as required for Cabinet Member, Scrutiny Board and Schools Forum on areas related to the role.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree or equivalent teaching qualification and/or qualified teacher status
Evidence of recent professional development
Higher degree qualification and/or post graduate courses
Ofsted Accredited Inspector

  • Experience: Experience & Knowledge
  • Understanding of strategic issues across children's services with particular reference to education
  • Experience of establishing and leading professional development activities
  • Evidence of curriculum leadership in an educational context
  • Evidence of partnership working with schools and other agencies, including health services, social services and the third sector
  • Evidence of successful team leadership
  • Experience of advisory and support work with schools or similar organisations
  • Knowledge of the curriculum and assessment, and the staffing and organisation of schools and academies
  • Practical understanding of effective learning and teaching strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategic issues affecting pupil attainment and underachievement
  • Awareness of current developments and legislation / guidance and their implication for schools and academies
  • Compliance: Up to date Passport and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
