This is an exciting time to join North Somerset


Delivery of the Bus Service Improvement Plan in North Somerset will revolutionise public transport, making it a viable alternative to travel by private vehicle for many of our residents.

The programme prioritises infrastructure improvements and service investment over the next two years.

It includes new bus shelters, bus interchanges for our key towns, an improved passenger experience, improved fares and ticketing, better branding and information, shorter journey times, more reliable services and measures to help people access public transport at the beginning and end of their journeys.


This will be a fast paced and exciting time to work for us - our joint West of England Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) received the second largest funding settlement nationally.

We are working in partnership with the West of England Combined Authority as part of a joint delivery unit approach.


Join our Team


We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Senior Transport Planning Officer to focus on the project management work in our Public Transport and BSIP capital delivery teams.


The project management role is core to ensuring effective delivery of the BSIP projects and initiatives for both capital and revenue work areas.


Your core work will ensure that we:

  • Define SMART project outcomes
  • Deliver on our shared Governance and MOU
  • Ensure roles and responsibilities are clarified
  • Deliver consistent reporting and project documentation to enable resource planning
  • Regularly update risk registers and have a formal and systematic risk analysis approach
  • Support budget and performance management
  • Run reflective workshops & Lessons Learnt sessions
  • Assess our of outputs and outcomes and input to our legacy realisation


You will have a key role in an expanding team to deliver the work packages in our Bus Service Improvement Plan to significantly increase bus patronage, helping to decarbonise transport in the district.
