SPORTS APPRENTICE

36.5 HOURS

TERM-TIME ONLY

FIXED TERM 13 MONTHS

ACTUAL SALARY £8,004
The Prince Albert Community Trust wish to appoint Sports Apprentices to start in the Spring term. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in primary school teaching and/or sport coaching.

We are looking for a passionate individual committed to developing their skills in the delivery of Physical Education and School Sport.

The successful post holder will work within a well-established P.E department for 4 days per week in one of our schools.

As part of the apprenticeship you will also gain a Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification. This will be delivered by qualified tutors at Kingsbury School Sport Partnership through weekly education sessions.


Throughout the apprenticeship we will provide you with opportunities to:

  • Work with qualified teachers to support PE lessons in schools
  • Experience primary competition
  • Gain experience in supporting primary festivals, including working with children with Special Educational needs
  • Develop coaching skills by leading lunch time and extra
- curricular activities

  • Develop personal skills that are essential to be successful in the work place
  • Gain recognised qualifications
  • Meet like minding people who have the same career interests
  • Meet and network with highly experienced colleagues in the education and sport sector

IMPORTANT Information relating to the role of a PE and School Sports Apprentice:

  • As Sports Apprentice you will be based within a primary school within the Prince Albert Community Trust.
  • Within this environment you will receive training, support and mentoring through an agreed tutor in partnership with Kingsbury School Sport Partnership.
  • As an Apprentice you are not a qualified member of staff and should not be on your own with a group unless there is an identified member of staff working in close vicinity. Unless you are a more experienced NGB level 2 coach, in which case the delivery ratio is 16:
  • You will be internally trained to allow for your competence to be assessed by your school/club to determine whether you can give you increased responsibility with lunchtime clubs etc. At this point if you are over 18 years old, you will be able to given more responsibility with clubs
  • You will be placed in a school for 4 days with one day a week set aside for training and workforce capacity i.e. to support with delivery of competitions with the school games organiser at Kingsbury School Sport Partnership.
  • You will complete the community activator apprenticeship which will be delivered over 13 months
