Job Introduction

The starting salary for this position is £31,262 per annum based on a 36 hour working week. This is a 2 year secondment / fixed term contract.


Surrey County Council is on an ambitious and exciting journey, and we are looking for people to join our Children's commissioning division, within the Children, Schools and Families Directorate.

The commissioning division is at the centre of children's services in Surrey, driving change and innovation with a relentless focus on improving outcomes.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced
Commissioning Support Officer to join this dynamic commissioning team to support the All-Age Autism Strategy implementation.

You will need to be highly organised and have excellent communication as you will be providing commissioning and business support to the Assistant Director and wider team in the SEND, Education and Early Years Commissioning Team.

As a valued member of the team, you will be using your proven administrative skills to support the team and its partners in:

  • Administrative tasks such as arranging meetings, setting agendas and writing up minutes
  • Support commissioning and project management activities such as contract management, service redesign, service specifications and the implementation of new services
  • Carrying out research, analysing data from multiple sources, preparing reports to help inform recommendations and influence change
  • Setting up venues for training and events
  • Supporting the team in engagement activities that will contribute to codesigning, coproducing and developing provision, outcomes and indicators with residents, service users and multiagency partners
  • Organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work with flexibility, diplomacy and discretion
  • IT skills including comprehensive knowledge of Outlook, MS Word and Excel

A basic
DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) will be required for this role.
