    What's in it for you:

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated full time staff member to join the dynamic Parking Services Team to help manage, improve and maintain traffic flow across Dorset and manage parking facilities for our many tourists & visitors throughout the year.

    Your base will be in Charminster but you will have the opportunity to work across the Dorset area, in its historic and iconic towns, villages and beautiful coastline and countryside. The majority of the time you will be working with minimal supervision but will be part of a professional, experienced dedicated team with a strong customer focus.

    This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal supporting role in delivering a service to residents, businesses & visitors in the Dorset area. Excellent communication skills are essential in this front facing role as at times the role can be challenging.

    What you can expect to be doing:

    You will be a uniformed public facing representative of Dorset Council and as such will be providing information & guidance to members of the public and liaising with councillors and other authority services.

    You will be monitoring and enforcing parking regulations in order to keep traffic flowing and to keep access to local businesses an amenities for both residents and visitors alike.

    By providing a high visibility proactive patrol you will be encouraging compliance throughout the road networks of Dorset and compliance within the car parks safeguarding revenue income that supports many of Dorset Council's essential services.

    About you:

    Essential skills:

    • Literate and numerate with excellent communication skills.

    • Experience in a public facing role.

    • Required, post entry, to gain a thorough knowledge of legislation and parking regulations.

    • Full clean driving licence.

    • Basic IT knowledge and skills to include usage of smartphone or similar device, Microsoft Office and Teams.

    • Fit to carry equipment, walk considerable distances and work outside in all weathers.

    • Smart appearance.

    • Experience of working with people in difficult and challenging circumstances with an ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner.

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment.

    • Able to follow procedures.

    • To be motivated, enthusiastic and adaptable.
