Description

To support a caseload of NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) care leavers, acting as the support worker to conduct needs analysis/assessments and develop jointly agreed pathway plans, identifying and documenting the support required to overcome personal barriers to education, training and employment.

To provide information, advice and guidance to help young people access a range of education, training and employment provisions.

Work closely with the EET Coordinator ensuring NEET caseload is well managed and young people progress from NEET to EET.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Working closely with the EET Coordinator and Personal Advisors plan and achieve a viable education, training and employment pathway for care leavers through direct work with young people.

Maintain weekly contact with the active NEET caseload and record all engagement and non engagement on Mosaic, clearly evidencing all methods and attempts to engage with the YP seeking further direction from the Lead worker if necessary


To act as a support worker within the team, evaluate and respond to EET referrals take appropriate action and give appropriate advice, information and assistance.

4. Assist EET Coordinator with planning and preparing provisions booklet and update notice board with opportunities and promote events

Assist EET Coordinator planning and delivering activities to enhance young people's chances of doing better in education, training and employment

Assist EET Coordinator with carrying out recruitment drives

Assist EET Coordinator with maintaining and updating EET database

Participate in reviews, case conferences and other meetings and report to EET Coordinator for follow up support.


Accompany young people to open days/jobs fair where necessary and undertake occasional home/prison visit with other professionals for hard-to-reach young people to provide key working sessions.

Fully contribute to and use supervision to effectively raise issues of concerns and as a tool for personal development.

Undertake relevant training as necessary to enhance personal skills, professional development, and support of young people.

Respond to requests for support and assistance from Personal Advisors/Social workers and other professionals

Knowledge of financial support

available to care leavers in post 18

education including grants, bursaries and scholarships


Knowledge of the barriers affecting care leavers progression in education, training, employment and an understanding of how to overcome these.

Knowledge of post 16 education and training provisions/options including apprenticeships/traineeship/internship options

accommodation issues and student loan management

Knowledge of local and national education, training and employment providers
