    An exciting opportunity has arisen in Hackney's Domestic Abuse Intervention Service for a permanent VAWG Specialist Practitioner to take an active role in implementing the Eliminating VAWG Hackney Strategy and delivering the Coordinated Community Response Model across Hackney.

    You will take an operational lead role in taking forward Hackney's VAWG Action Plan in partnership with Hackney's VAWG Strategic Lead. This will involve organising and delivering training, awareness-raising (through campaigns, in-person and online events Hackney's public-facing website, communications channels), and working with key partner agencies, stakeholders and members of the public to develop the Hackney partnership's practice, procedures and data gathering/sharing to better identify and respond to VAWG. It will also involve a contract management role for Hackney's refuge provision and line management responsibilities within Hackney's Domestic Abuse Intervention Service, managing two front-line practitioners.

    The successful candidate will –

    – take an active role operationally in working with senior management and partner agencies to implement the Eliminating VAWG Hackney Strategy and deliver the Coordinated Community Response Model across Hackney.

    – work as part of the Domestic Abuse Intervention Service management team and alongside colleagues in Housing Services and Benefits and Housing Needs as well as with the Greater London Authority to ensure compliance with the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, particularly regarding duties relating to homelessness.

    – design, promote, implement and review efficient performance / data tracking systems across the Domestic Abuse Intervention Service and wider Hackney Violence Against Women and Girls Partnership in relation to the Eliminating VAWG Hackney Strategy to promote and deliver the Coordinated Community Response Model across the Hackney partnership.

    – maintain a direct link to risk management / casework through line managing two Domestic Abuse Intervention Officers.

    – work with Hackney's VAWG Strategic Lead on the implementation of the Eliminating VAWG Hackney Strategy, ensuring that implementation is compliant with national and Greater London Authority requirements, is reviewed in partnership with Hackney VAWG agencies, statutory partners and members of the public and is publicised and accessible to a variety of audiences via campaigns and awareness raising activity.

    – take a lead operational role within DAIS for the commissioning and monitoring of domestic abuse refuge provision and to perform duties related to that role e.g. being a primary source of contact to commissioned refuge providers for advice, support and problem-solving.

    – design, deliver, manage and review effective and engaging in-person and online training to partner agencies on domestic abuse and Violence Against Women and Girls issues including bystander interventions to tackle public-space VAWG, responding to the needs of the Hackney partnership and emerging priorities.

    – design, deliver, manage and review effective and engaging in-person and online events and activities with young people and other Hackney residents to raise awareness of VAWG and domestic abuse.

    – design, deliver, manage and review group support / interventions for survivors of domestic abuse using in-person and online methods in partnership with community-based VAWG partners in the statutory and voluntary / 3rd sector and ensuring participants' support needs are met and that risks are assessed and managed appropriately.

    – design, deliver, manage and review service user forums for survivors of domestic abuse using in-person and online methods across a range of settings in partnership with community-based VAWG partners in the statutory and voluntary / 3rd sector ro enable those who have used domestic abuse services to give their views and make recommendations to the VAWG partnership to enable user-informed improved service delivery.

    – design, deliver, manage and review effective and engaging in-person and online consultation with Hackney residents to gain their views about VAWG issues and to enable residents to have a voice in developing policy and practice.

    – provide consultation and advice to colleagues within the Council and across the Hackney partnership and develop the knowledge, skills and confidence of colleagues to identify and respond to all forms of VAWG including those additional to domestic abuse e.g. Female Genital Mutilation, sexual exploitation, public space harassment.

    The role will involve remote working but also in-person working across a number of sites within the Hackney borough. Candidates will be expected to be flexible, positive, adaptable, comfortable with data/performance systems and confident with ICT and highly organised.
