Based in either the Development Management Team or the Policy/Implementation Team within the Planning Directorate

Epping Forest District is at an exciting time in terms of Planning.

We have a recently adopted Local Plan and are able to demonstrate a 5.4 year supply of Land for Housing.

This means that there are excellent opportunities to be involved in major development schemes and be at the forefront of shaping the district.

To enable the successful implementation of the Local Plan, Planning Services have recently had a restructure agreed that redeploys additional resources to where they are most needed.

This restructure has enabled us to recruit to a number of new and existing vacant positions and reshape the teams to enable more effective service delivery.

Alongside this, work is underway on a wider 'Planning Transformation' to ensure that the service offered is efficient and cost effective, which is being undertaken in collaboration with PAS.

The Development Management service regulates the development and use of land and buildings in accordance with the relevant Planning Acts and the Council's planning policies.

As part of the recently agreed restructure the Councils Planning Policy Team and Planning Implementation Team have been combined into a single team to enable greater cohesion and flexibility.

This team monitors progress and implementation of the Local Plan, works with developers of allocated Masterplan Sites, including those that form part of the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town, and undertakes reviews of the Local Plan and the supporting information when required.

The Council is currently recruiting to various planning officer roles across the two teams at Senior Planning Officer, Planning Officer and Assistant Planning Officer levels.

There will be opportunities to advance your planning knowledge through training, experience and representing the service at Planning Committees, Appeals, and other necessary events.

We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals that have relevant qualifications and demonstrable experience and expert knowledge appropriate to the job role.

They should also have a good understanding of the use of technology for the delivery of modern and streamlined services and processes.

The Council encourages hybrid working, with the choice to primarily work from home, opportunity to work from the Civic Offices, or a mixture of both.

The Civic Offices themselves are situated within the historic market town of Epping, which is accessible via the Central Line and enables excellent sustainable transport opportunities.

Please refer to the job pack for more detail on the role.

If you are interested in multiple roles then please make this clear on your supporting statement as we are happy to undertake a single interview for multiple positions.

Epping Forest District Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
