About Government Recruitment Service (GRS)

The Government Recruitment Service (GRS) was launched in September 2017 and is part of the Government People Group (GPG) in the Cabinet Office.

GRS is a vibrant, modern and exciting place to work, attracting a diverse workforce which represents the people we serve.

The roles in this campaign are to fill current and emerging vacancies. You will be given full training, coaching and support to help you achieve your best.

We aim to modernise and open up Civil Service recruitment to attract a broader, more diverse pool of talent.

It's also our priority to unlock the talent within the Civil Service, giving everyone the opportunity to fulfil their potential while making an important contribution to government.

We deliver around 70% of the recruitment volume across the Civil Service and aspire to be the recruitment partner of choice for all Civil Service departments, agencies and approved non-departmental public bodies.

  • We are run by civil servants for civil servants, with an indepth understanding of how government works.
  • We have privileged access to the experience and data recruiting departments need.
  • We recruit for all roles and grades, including Senior Civil Servants.
  • Our service 'menu' is built around customer needs, with the flexibility to take on as much or as little of their recruitment campaign as they need.

Job description:

  • Providing professional and expert Recruitment and Preemployment Checking services across the Civil Service;
  • Line managing a team to ensure successful delivery of our service to Key Performance Indicators and/or supporting recruitment campaigns;

  • Proactively managing risks and challenges as they emerge during campaigns and escalating where appropriate;

What will I do as a Campaign Delivery Officer within GRS:

  • You will ensure that all recruitment and preemployment checking activities are consistent with employment law and relevant policies and procedures, including the Civil Service Commission Recruitment Principles and Baseline Personnel Security Standards.
  • You will also act as the escalation point for any complex queries from Vacancy Holders, mitigating risk and providing a seamless service.

Within Recruitment:

  • As a line manager, you will manage and prioritise the team's workload to meet changing demands and delivery targets, monitoring performance and productivity whilst championing an ethos of teamwork and best practice.

Within Pre-Employment Checking:

  • Pre employment screening checks are a critical part of a business's recruitment and onboarding process. Preemployment screening checks allow employers to identify risks associated with an individual before an employment contract is entered into. These checks can include, but are not limited to; Right to Work Checks, Criminal Record Checks, Medical/Health Checks and Employment History Checks.
  • You will work closely and manage your own team of AO checkers who are responsible for managing the endtoend checking process.
